Skirting the Evidence refers to episode 33 of the Season 11 of the television series Forensic Files which was broadcast for the first time on February 28, 2007.
Plot summary[]
In 1996, 25 year-old Shannon Sanderson of Memphis TN went to a casino in Tunica MS alone after an argument with her 58 year-old husband Robert. She won $5,000 at the Blackjack tables. Three hours later while picking her kids up from the baby-sitter’s she was abducted by a man driving a red Chevy Beretta. A witness claimed the abductor looked like Shannon’s husband. A month later her body was found in an abondoned farmhouse.
The trail turned cold until police got a call from a woman claiming that her husband, 41 year-old Gerald Lee Powers, had a criminal past and drove a red Chevy Beretta. Infrared microscopy was used to match samples of pink cellophane from Power’s home to cellophane found with hidden Jewelry belonging to Shannon. Shannon’s body was exhumed during the investigation an an attempt to match fingernails found at the abduction site and in Power’s car to Shannon’s fingernails.
